It’s one thing to talk trash about sports teams during the playoffs – it’s expected – but Boston Mayor Tom Menino made it personal when he decided to diss Colorado beers.
“Colorado Rocky beer? Uck,” Menino said.
Oh, it’s on.
You don’t diss Colorado beer. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Sam Adams products. Utopias is awesome and I have fond memories of their summer ale. But Colorado is the microbrewing capital of the nation.
At the Great American Beer Fest, Colorado breweries have brought home a total of 491 medals. All of New England’s states combine for 158.
Needless to say, there were quite a few angry displeased tweets from Colorado folks yesterday.
Regardless if the Broncos win or lose, Hancock should send Menino a variety six-pack that includes New Belgium’s Fat Tire, Odell’s 90 Shilling, Dry Dock’s URCA Vanilla Porter, Avery’s Old Jubiliation, Left Hand’s Milk Stout and Coors’ Colorado Native – just because he mentioned Coors.
